What other clients say about me:

“Dear Board Members,

I wanted to let you know that Carol Kotacka will be wrapping up her work with us as of December 20, 2017. As you know, Carol’s support was critical to us in our merger work. She led the development of our stakeholder engagement strategy and messaging resulting in our positive merger vote. We could not have done this without her. Carol is dynamic, focused and a straight shooter and when managing a complex environment, there is no one better than Carol who can get things done. We are very grateful to have had her leadership and support in this journey.

Anita Stellinga,
Interim-CEO

Your superpower for managing through a crisis:

My biggest strength would be checking my ego and the door and a managing crisis through collaboration:

  • Built issues management framework for newly merged hospital with reputed busiest emergency department in the country. Managed organizational reputation in responding to issues such as: outbreaks, infrastructure challenges and external review of 3,500 diagnostic images which lead to the Ministry of Health announcement of a province-wide physician peer review program. This included leading and supporting command centre structure during execution of Emergency Management Protocol which included instances of “Code Orange” (disaster), “Code Grey” (infrastructure failure), “Code Red” (fire)
  • Led operational plans, policy advocacy strategies and digital engagement platforms for United Ways to drive system wide solutions impacting issues like youth homelessness, mental illness and supporting the regional settlement of Syrian refugees during the 2017 arrival at Pearson Airport
  • Launched stakeholder engagement strategy designed to mobilize government, leaders and residents for development of youth shelter in community turning away over 450 kids per year due to lack of space. Local government announced commitment within 18 months. Doors opened six months later
